The
coffee hut is an Alaskan treasure. Here, coffee is
king and a hut can be spotted nearly every couple of blocks in towns
throughout the state.
These
modest and practical establishments are full of color and
character. They
depict the Alaskan culture where people are laid back, hard
working and
simple. They find comfort in the little things and respect the
concept of free
enterprise. Alaskans go out of their way to support the small business
owner and are loyal
to, and
appreciative of, their friendly, neighborhood stores.
Whether
it be the easy access of a drive-through on a cold winter morning or the
highly personal service that one receives, many theories abound
as to what has
made the coffee hut craze so incredibly popular in Alaska.
Regardless -- we hope you enjoy our scrapbook of huts, with their charming names and
designs...
